Old brickwork becomes discoloured and soiled from applied finishes and the effects of airbourne debris over time. The original mortar can deteriorate and the orginal tuckpointing may be damaged or simply falling away. It has reach the end of its serviceable life. A&KA Brickwork Restorations can clean and restore your brickwork and provide new tuckpointing using modern day materials, that will bring your period building back to as-new condition. Tuckpointing is a specialised craft. It is performed when all brickwork is complete. The structural mortar joints are raked out (excavated) to an even depth. A coloured mortar matching the brickwork colour is placed and struck flush with the surface of the wall. The thin ruled mortar lines in contrasting colour are then applied to finish the job.
A&KA Brickwork Restorations are the tuckpointing specialists and have completed hundreds of tuckpointing projects for the most exacting clients. |
